I’m Marnie…Mum to 3 sporty, growing boys who love to eat.
Which works out well because I love to cook. And take pretty pictures of food.
How this blog came about:
Back in 2009 I started a lifestyle blog called 3pickles which grew surprisingly over the years. I had a lot of fun, made some lovely new friends and had some wonderful experiences. I even had one of my recipes and photographs featured in The Huffington Post.
Over this time, I found that I was really enjoying the recipe posts I was creating, especially the food photography & styling components and my readers loved them too. It was then that I decided I needed to create a dedicated food & recipe blog.
I have always enjoyed cooking for my family & friends & now with 3 very active boys and a busy schedule, finding time to create wholesome (but quick & easy) meals can be a challenge.
My boys (lets call them Pickle 1, 2 & 3) aren’t overly fussy eaters but just like most of us, they have their likes and dislikes. Unfortunately these likes & dislikes often clash.
Pickle 1 (the teenager) will eat anything other than fresh tomatoes…in fact he is very adventurous with food. The typical teenage bottomless pit with hollow legs.
Pickle 2 (not quite a teenager yet) is the carnivore….the Paleo way would suit him to a T (Rex) haha…but if anything is green it’s probably poison. I’m working on that.
Pickle 3 (not quite, not quite a teenager yet) my spicy little baby. Olives, hot salami, cherry tomatoes…give this kid a mezze platter and he will love you forever.
Mr3P & I are adventurous eaters which is great when you live in Melbourne (Australia) as there is alway something new to try around every corner. I’m looking forward to sharing our little discoveries with you from the “World’s Most Liveable City” and from our regular road trips around Australia.
That said, we also love chilling on the sofa with a good movie, a glass of red and a home made charcuterie board or cheese platter.
So, anyway… here I am, scratching my head with ways to feed this lot, sometimes on the run AND keeping it healthy and wholesome. Lunch box ideas are my biggest challenge.
With a plethora of recipes and cooking influence from both the British and Greek sides of our family food tree (plus a whole lot of Aussie thrown in for good measure…which could mean anything really…gotta love a good melting pot) , I’m hoping to share with you the successes (& total fails) from our family kitchen. (Which is currently in demolition mode…..perfect time to start a food blog right?)
Did I mention I love my slow cooker?
If you’re into the social media thing I’d like to invite you to join me there for a chat.
